Here’s a perfect example of the magic of SAYing WHAT YOU SEE and adding a CAN DO that a parent shared with me about her 8-year old son:

SWYS: “I asked you to unload the dishwasher, and you’re lying on the couch.”

Child:   “My legs are broken.”

SWYS:   “Hmm. Your legs are broken.”

CAN DO: “Must be some way you can empty the dishwasher with broken legs.”

Child:    “I can hop!”

Much to mom’s amazement, he hopped on one foot over to the dishwasher and put the dishes away!

With SAY WHAT YOU SEE, you can expect the unexpected!
